EOC Week 9: Mission Statements
“The mission statement for the Hut is to provide an unmatched dining and atmosphere experience for the local community” This first mission statement if for a restaurant of another person in the class. I like it, because its short and sweet and expresses exactly what he wants it to be. He’s not just saying, oh hey we sell food and it’s Caribbean themed, he mentioned the unmatched dining and atmosphere and hopefully that’s what people want more than just good food. The only thing I would critique on this is maybe saying why it will have unmatched dining and atmosphere.
"Our mission is to make Scriptz your preferred bar destination in Downtown Las Vegas. We deliver outstanding service and quality beverages to make us your one stop bar. We believe in not only serving the people of Las Vegas, but also our creative individuals." I like that he said one stop bar in this statement. So that you know they are going to have what you are looking for no matter what you drink. So you know that this place may bring in a wide variety of people, mostly writers and people with ideas will come but they don’t have to decide where to go because going here will make everybody happy. The book says,” Mission statements should be meaningful and specific yet motivating. They should emphasize the company’s strengths in the marketplace.” This is pretty much exactly what he does here, and I would easily be persuaded to come visit this establishment.
“At The Bean Break, customers will be in a very mellow environment that will have people be stress free. It will have customers coming back because there won’t be a coffee shop like this anywhere else” I also like this one because it says exactly what you’re going to get from this place, however like the others it still doesn’t say how they are going to do this. It just says it will and I think people kind of want to know how you are going to be different from a Starbucks or something like that. So what makes you unique?

EOC Week 8: Creative Concept
Radio is still a good medium to get information across most
people spend a lot of time in their cars commuting and just cruising
around. You have 30 seconds to get your
point across and get people to get interested in your product which can definitely
be a challenge. So my creative concept
for promoting my bar is going to be a radio commercial that I will write and
produce myself. I have all the tools necessary
and the talent needed to put it all together.
The plan would be to broadcast it on the stations that my ideal cliental
would be listening too. I would also
find a way to get onto Pandora and other internet stations because people
listen to them more than actual radio I feel like. Some people have Pandora constantly going on
in their house, and nobody buys the actual version with no commercials so
everyone has to listen to them. What I would
also like to do is actually put up the different recipes for the beer that we
will brew in the brewery. I have been
making beer for the past 5 years and have created my own recipes but would also
look up some different ones too. This is
to make sure that we have a wide variety to attract all different kinds of beer
lovers to the brewery. I believe that
with this commercial done with quality and advertising our beers will strongly
encourage people to visit and keep visiting the restaurant.

EOC Week 6: Me X 3
The first thing that defines me would definitely have to be my guitar. It's a John Mayer signature series Fender Strata-caster the one you think of when you think of fender guitars. It's easy to explain why because music is my life and this guitar is my weapon of choice to make the music that I love. I love the Strats because they are light weight and I love the twangy kind of sound that you get out of this particular guitar. Also anyone who knows me knows John Mayer is pretty much my Idol, heck people here at school gave me the nickname John Mayer. It's my favorite possession and one that I use more than any other thing that I own.
The next is definitely my car, it's a Blue Subaru WRX. Since they first came out in 2002 I have wanted one, and i finally got one two years ago. I call her Smurffette because she is blue. One of the reasons I got it is because of the color, blue is my favorite color especially that shade of blue because it's a bit darker pretty much the color of the Smurfs. It kinda of symbolizes me as a young man, it's definitely a young man's car but a young man who has been successful so far in life and I would say I have been because I have made enough money to afford it. It also is fast without being really a sports car, it's turbo charged and a stick shift which makes it feel super race car like and I love it so much.
The last is actually the shirt I am currently wearing. It's a Nike pro kind of warm up shirt but with the logo of my favorite football team, The Denver Broncos. I mean two minutes into interaction with me and you will find out that I am a huge Broncos fan, not only that just sports in general I love. I wear this shirt every Sunday during football season, not so much for good luck because they have had good and horrible seasons whether or not I wear the jersey but just as a symbol. You see it and immediately you know oh he's a Broncos fan. I will sport it whether or not they win or not either, I'm not ashamed in the least and I'm not a band wagoner at all, I have loved them since I was 5 years old. Seen them win two Super-bowls and also go 4 - 12 and have the second overall pick in the draft. This shirt is just me explained perfectly, it's sporty and informative at the same time without being too flashy.

Week 5 EOC: Superbowl Commercial
So far and away the best commercial of the super bowl was
the GoDaddy.com commercial with the nerdy dude making out with the hott
girl. It was also the most controversial
because the kiss lasted for so long and the sound was really intense, once again
proving that sound is the most important thing in the a production like that
and I’m in the right business. "Go Daddy always stood for sexy. We said,
you need to stand for more, you need to stand for smart," this is a quote
from the commercial’s director who they hired specifically for the commercial.
To be honest I think its genius while
others thought that it was disgusting, but you remember it don’t you? “On Tuesday, GoDaddy revealed that the
Monday following the Super Bowl was the biggest sales day in the history of the
company. “(http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/05/go-daddy-super-bowl-nerd-kiss-ad-biggest-sales-day-ever_n_2623541.html) So there you go advertising does work and
when you do it right it works well. I
don’t understand why people hated on it so much, you know what superbowl
commercials are, you know that they are supposed to be funny. What happened to our sense of humor as
people? Oh she’s hot and he’s kinda a
nerd it could never happen in real life.
That’s why it was so hilarious!!
Somehow according to popwatch.com 77% of people voting said that it was
the worst commercial. Now I’m thinking
that’s a good and a bad thing. The most
important thing is to be memorable and honestly it’s the only commercial that I
remember and I wasn’t even drinking during the game. They are always know for making commercials
like this, honestly I think some of the other ones are even worse. The ones with Danica and Jillian in the shower
or naked or being drawn on? Why didn’t
those create more of a negative buzz than this one, just because they’re making
out? Come on people grow up and get a
fricken sense of humor!!!!

EOC Week 4
If I was to create an app, oh man I hate to say it but their aren't too many new good original ideas out there. It would have to be an app that searched songwriters up no matter what song you wanted to check. I would have a data base that not only showed the performer but also the person or people who wrote the song itself. I know a lot of famous performers don't write their own songs, it's usually a group of people working together, especially nowadays. I like to take pride in the fact I perform every instrument in everyone of my songs and have had no help from anyone else at all. Songwriters I feel do not get enough credit for the beautiful things they create and too much credit goes to the person singing or playing it. One day I do hope to be a professional songwriter, because I do feel like that's the hardest thing in the world to do and I'd like to think that I'm pretty damn good at it. If you to my sound cloud: https://soundcloud.com/peter-sullivan-5 you can see all the stuff I've come up with, yeah you don't have to tell me it's good I already know. So in searching I can't seem to find another app like this, there are ones that tell you about the performer but not all the song credits. So maybe if I had the resources to develop it I would love too although I don't know how I could make any money off of it because I wouldn't want to charge people to download it.

Week 3 EOC My Demographics
So according to the book I fall into the category of Millenials which is somebody born between the years of 1977-2000. Apparently there are 83 million of us and we have somewhere close to 730 million dollars worth of purchasing power, which sounds about right. Right now we are the digital generation, the majority of us grew up with access to a computer. For me yes, I can't even think back far enough to remember not having a computer to go onto. I can barely remember not having the internet, but for the most part it has been a huge part of my life. As more people have come to the United States yes the country has gotten more diverse. However that really doesn't apply to me being the typical Caucasian, blue eyed, blonde hair male with no barriers to stop me from achieving all of my goals. Just like every person my age we are very technology savy, there's no way any of us don't know how to use a computer or go on the internet, use facebook, heck even build out own webpage and start a blog or tweet about god knows what. All that stuff is second nature to all of us and someone not knowing how to do it really blows our minds.
We are definately demanding of a more independant marketing strategy coming at us. We are a generation of individuals who are out to all make a name for oursleves. It seems like everyone in this generation wants to me famous in some way. I know myself I want to be a famous Rock Star. The strategy is to make things independent to us, say something like make it your own or custom made just for you are the best ways to get to us. Like I say every body wants to be famous or treated like someone famous.

Week 2:Boston Consulting Group
Obviously you have the big three when it comes to video
gaming consoles, Playstation, XBOX, and Nintendo with its WII. When it comes to analyzing them on the BGC
scale, I would say they may fall into different places on the chart. Now Nintendo is a weird story because it has
the DS as well as the Wii which according to figures is the bestselling platform
right now. The younger audience definitely
is the target market here, you see tons of kids with DS and as kids get older
more of them are getting them so it would definitely fall into the Star
category on the BGC chart. “Nintendo in June sold more than 155,000 of the 3DS
console, more than 150,000 of its older Nintendo DS portable and almost 95,000
Wiis, the company said in an e-mailed statement today, citing data from
researcher NPD Group.” (http://newyork.newsday.com/news/nation/nintendo-ds-handheld-sales-surpass-5-million-1.3839546)
I may have to make Microsoft the question mark on this especially after
introducing the new campaign on the kinnect featuring the Nike Fit
program. “Microsoft
Corp said on Monday sales of its revolutionary Kinect sensing device for the
Xbox game console have hit more than 18 million just over a year since launch. Popularity of the device has helped Microsoft
Xbox recently outsell Nintendo's Wii and Sony's PlayStation in the United
States game console market.” (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/09/microsoft-kinect-ces-keynote_n_1195735.html) Sony is sitting in the Cash Cow area, I
don’t feel like they are making any innovations but they aren’t losing any
customers either. I would say they
appeal more to the older gamer, people around my age because they have more
mature level games with more adult material in them. They haven’t come out with anything terribly
new and revolutionary to compete with the Kinect so they may lose some
potential customers because of that. “That might come as a surprise to those who have been
following research firm NPD's monthly game industry sales announcements.
Earlier this month, NPD revealed that for October -- and for the 22nd month in
a row -- Microsoft's Xbox 360 sales outpaced all other consoles. Microsoft
announced that it sold 270,000 units in October and held 56 percent of the
current-generation console sales during the month.” (http://news.cnet.com/8301-10797_3-57551097-235/watch-out-xbox-360-here-comes-the-playstation-3/)

Great Customer Service
There’s
a web site called Sweetwater.com what they do is specialize in music and sound recording
equipment. I didn’t find out about them
until I started going to school here but they blow every other company I’ve
dealt with on and off line out of the water.
They actually have experts in the fields that call you once you place
your order and a few days after your order arrives to make sure it was what you
wanted and that it’s working well. I was
beyond impressed the first time I bought something off of their website. In fact I almost felt like it was too much, I
was shocked like why are they calling me?
Yeah I got my shit and yeah it works just fine, if it didn’t I would
have sent it back or called and complain.
I’m not spending a ton of money because most of your stuff is expensive
to have it not work. In talking with the
people I was impressed with their product knowledge and courtesy, they really
do know their stuff. So from now on I get
everything I need from their web site and I would really recommend it to anyone
else who is looking for a good place to buy this equipment. Now I’ve never had a problem and had to send
something back but I’m assuming that it wouldn’t be difficult at all. I’m sure they will replace whatever I needed
replaced without any hassle at all. I am
really glad I found this place once again and hope that it will continue to be
in business for years to come as I am excited to buy more and more stuff to make
my studio awesome!!
Week 1 EOC: My Voice
Sound
is amazing isn't it? You can’t escape it
no matter where you go or where you are.
My interest in sound shaping for the most part, I am at heart a musician
but the last few months my mind has been opened up to the possibility of so
much more in the field of sound. However
music is my only passion in life, I constantly have a song going on in my head
at all times. My friends will tell you
most of the time it’s not only in my head but I am singing out loud the
majority of the time. The only thing I can
see myself doing is the world is creating or shaping or designing some sort of
music so that the world can maybe hear what I hear when I look at something or
feel something. I mean the ultimate
dream is famous musician and I’m constantly working on that every day. Whether it’s playing my instruments for hours
upon hours each day or writing down possible song lyrics on my phone or in my
notebook, I’m usually thinking about how I can rewrite a song or create a new
one. I honestly believe that music means
more to me than anyone else in the world, anytime I’m feeling anything at all I
find a way to make a song out of it, I guess that’s just how my mind works. I promise that one day the world will know my
name and my story and really appreciate what I bring to the table.
